As a head of digital marketing, I understand the importance of choosing the right advertising strategy for social media platforms, especially Facebook. In this article, we’ll explore the differences between Boosted Posts and Ads on Facebook, their benefits and limitations, and when to use each option for the best results.

Boosted Posts are a cost-effective way to increase engagement on a specific post, while Ads offer more advanced targeting options and the ability to optimize for specific campaign objectives. By understanding these differences, businesses can make informed decisions and choose the best strategy to achieve their advertising goals on Facebook.

What is a Boosted Post on Facebook?

A Boosted Post is a type of advertising that allows businesses to reach more people in their Facebook news feed. Boosting a post means paying to increase the audience of an existing Facebook post.

This is a quick and easy way to increase engagement on a specific post and get more eyes on your content. It’s an effective method for businesses that want to increase their reach without investing significant time or money into creating an ad campaign. Read also Creating Effective Facebook Carousel Posts for ADS and Organic Boost (2023)

How to Create a Boosted Post?

To create a Boosted Post, simply go to your Facebook Page and select the post you want to promote. Click on the Boost Post button, and you’ll be taken to Facebook’s Ad Manager. From there, you can choose your post’s target audience, budget, and duration. You’ll also have the option to customize your ad with images, text, and a call to action.

What are the benefits of Boosted Posts?

Boosted Posts are a cost-effective way to increase your reach and engagement on a specific post. Here are some of the advantages of using Boosted Posts:

Quick and easy to set up

Require little to no design expertise

Can be targeted to specific audiences

Boosted Posts are shown in the Facebook news feed, so users are more likely to see them

What are the limitations of Boosted Posts?

While Boosted Posts are a quick and easy way to reach more people on Facebook, there are some drawbacks to consider:

Less control over targeting options compared to Ads

Unable to optimize for specific campaign objectives such as increasing website traffic, conversions, or lead generation

May not be as effective for driving sales as Ads

What is an Ad on Facebook?

A Facebook Ad is a paid form of advertising that allows businesses to reach a targeted audience beyond their current followers. Ads can be customized to fit specific objectives such as brand awareness, lead generation, or sales. Unlike Boosted Posts, Facebook Ads are created in the Ads Manager and require more time and effort to set up. Read also How to manage Facebook ads for clients in 6 steps

How to create an Ad on Facebook?

To create an Ad on Facebook, you must go to the Facebook Ads Manager. From there, you’ll need to select the type of ad you want to create, select the target audience, set your budget and duration, and create your ad. You can choose from various ad formats, such as image ads, video ads, and carousel ads. You’ll also have access to advanced targeting options to reach your desired audience.

What are the benefits of using Ads on Facebook?

Here are some of the advantages of using Ads on Facebook:

Advanced targeting options to reach your ideal audience

Ability to optimize for specific campaign objectives

More control over ad design and customization

Can be more effective for driving sales and conversions

What are the limitations of using Ads on Facebook?

While Facebook Ads have many benefits, there are some limitations to consider:

May require more time, effort, and expertise to set up compared to Boosted Posts

Can be more expensive than Boosted Posts

May not be as effective for increasing engagement on a specific post compared to Boosted Posts

Boosted Post vs. Ad on Facebook: What’s the Difference?

Now that we’ve covered how Boosted Posts and Ads work let’s explore the differences between the two:

What are the differences in targeting options?

While both Boosted Posts and Ads allow for targeting to some degree, Ads have far greater targeting options. With Ads, you can target users based on demographics, interests, behaviors, and more. Boosted Posts only allow for basic targeting such as age, location, and gender.

What are the differences in ad formats?

Ads offer more customization options than Boosted Posts. Ads can be created in various formats, including images, videos, carousel posts, and more. Boosted Posts, on the other hand, only allow for basic image or video posts to be promoted.

What are the differences in pricing models?

Boosted Posts are priced based on the number of people that see the ad, whereas Facebook Ads are priced based on a specific objective, such as cost per click (CPC) or cost per thousand impressions (CPM). Ads can be more expensive than Boosted Posts, depending on the campaign objectives, target audience, and ad placement.

Table comparing Boosted Posts and Ads on Facebook:

Boosted Posts

Facebook Advertising

PROS

Quick and easy to set up

Advanced targeting options

Require little to no design expertise

Ability to optimize for specific campaign objectives

Can be targeted to specific audiences

More control over ad design and customization

Boosted Posts are shown in the Facebook news feed

Can be more effective for driving sales and conversions

CONS

Less control over targeting options compared to Ads

May require more time, effort, and expertise to set up

Unable to optimize for specific campaign objectives

Can be more expensive than Boosted Posts

May not be as effective for driving sales as Ads

May not be as effective for increasing engagement on a post

Targeting options

Basic targeting options such as age, location, and gender

Advanced targeting options based on demographics, interests, behaviors, and more

Ad formats

Basic image or video posts

Various formats, including images, videos, carousel posts

Campaign objectives

Increasing engagement on a specific post

Brand awareness, lead generation, or sales

When to Use Boosted Posts on Facebook?

When to use Boosted Posts for Engagement?

Boosted Posts can be an effective way to increase engagement on a specific post. Use Boosted Posts when you want to reach a larger audience and get more likes, shares, and comments on a particular post.

When to use Boosted Posts for Traffic?

Boosted Posts can also be used to drive traffic to your website or blog. Use Boosted Posts to increase clicks on a link in your post and drive more traffic to your website.

When to use Boosted Posts for Conversions?

Boosted Posts may not be the best option if your goal is to increase conversions. Since Boosted Posts only allow for basic targeting options, they may not be as effective at driving sales. Instead, consider using Facebook Ads, which allow for more advanced targeting options and the ability to optimize for specific campaign objectives.

When to Use Ads on Facebook?

When to use Ads for Brand Awareness?

If you want to increase brand awareness, Facebook Ads are a great option. Define your target audience by demographics, interests, and behaviors to increase the reach and visibility of your brand to potential customers.

When to use Ads for Lead Generation?

If you want to generate business leads, Facebook Ads can help. You can create ads with lead forms to capture information such as email addresses, phone numbers, and more from interested users.

When to use Ads for Sales?

Facebook Ads can be highly effective at generating sales for your business. Target users based on their interests and behaviors to showcase products or services they are likely to be interested in. You can also optimize your ad campaigns for specific conversion goals to increase sales.
Conclusion

Both Boosted Posts and Ads have their benefits and limitations. When choosing between the two, it’s essential to consider your campaign objectives, target audience, and budget. Boosted Posts are a quick and easy way to increase engagement on a specific post. At the same time, Ads offer more advanced targeting options and the ability to optimize for specific campaign objectives.

Whatever option you choose, monitor your campaigns’ performance regularly and adjust your strategy to achieve the best results.

You’re in the right place if you want to create an engaging and creative carousel on Facebook. With the ability to showcase multiple images or videos in one post, carousel posts have become popular for businesses looking to engage their audience and increase conversions.

But how do you create an effective Facebook carousel that stands out from the competition? As an experienced digital marketer, I’m here to share my insights and tricks for creating compelling carousel posts that will drive results for your business this year.

In this article, I’ll cover everything from design tips to ad copy best practices, so you can create a carousel that catch your audience’s attention and drive them to take action.

This guide will outline a step-by-step process to help you create and publish an organic post quickly and easily.

Two Methods to Create Facebook Carousel Posts

Facebook posts present a unique and engaging way to showcase up to 10 cards within a single post. Each card can display a distinct image, headline, and link, while sharing the same caption. This format provides numerous chances for users to interact and convert, making it a valuable tool in your marketing arsenal.

Although carousels are frequently used in Facebook Ad campaigns, organic Facebook posts can also be created using native tools.

Let’s explore both methods for creating carousel posts: organic and paid content on Facebook Ads Manager and your page.

How to create an organic Facebook carousel post

If you prefer not to use Ads Manager, the carousel can be published from your business’s Facebook page and then boosted.

Navigate to your page and select the Create Post option.

Click the Create Post button to open the post composer. Then click the gear icon with Photos. Drag and drop all your photos or videos. Before publishing, add a caption to encourage users to swipe through and engage with the cards. Then publish immediately, schedule for later, or save as a draft.

How to create Facebook carousel ads in Ads Manager

Creating a Facebook carousel post is a simple process. I use a lot of carousels ad types in my test: Test Results: Add To Cart vs Initiate Checkout vs Purchase Facebook Events

Start by navigating to Ads Manager and selecting the green Create button to create a new Ad set.

Choose an objective that supports the carousel format, such as Traffic, Conversions, or Catalog Sales.

Then, proceed through the ad creation process, selecting the Carousel option under Ad Format.

Here, you can upload up to 10 images, each with its headline, description, and URL.

You can also customize the call-to-action button for each card.

Remember that Ads Manager offers more advanced settings, like adding a card at the end of the carousel for users who have swiped through all the cards or automatically ordering the cards based on their performance. To understand how it will look for a chosen audience, check the preview section.

Tips for creating a Facebook carousel ad

Once you’ve finished setting up your carousel ad, click the Submit button to publish it. Your ad will go through Facebook’s review process, and if approved, it will start running according to your campaign settings.

Tips for Creating Effective Carousel Ads To maximize the potential of your posts, consider the following best practices:

Tell a story: Use the carousel format to create a narrative that unfolds as users swipe through the cards. This can help keep their attention and increase engagement.

Showcase multiple products: Display different products or product features in each card, allowing users to discover your offerings and make more informed decisions.

Highlight a single product: Alternatively, use the carousel to focus on one product, showcasing various angles, features, or use cases across multiple cards.

Utilize high-quality images: Engaging visuals are crucial for capturing attention. Ensure your images are high-resolution and well-composed to create a polished and professional look.

Optimize headlines and descriptions: Write compelling headlines and descriptions that convey the value of your products or services. Keep them concise, as longer text may be truncated on some devices.

Test and optimize: Experiment with different images, headlines, and card orders to find the most effective combination. Use Facebook’s built-in analytics tools to analyze your carousel’s performance and make data-driven decisions.

In conclusion, how to create a carousel post on Facebook (organic and ads)?

In conclusion, creating an effective video or photo carousel is a powerful way to increase engagement, conversions, and organic reach on your Facebook page. Following the tips and tricks outlined in this article, you can create an eye-catching carousel that will help your business stand out.

From choosing the right images and videos to crafting compelling ad copy, every element of your carousel plays a crucial role in driving results for your business.

As an experienced digital marketer, I hope these insights will help you create successful interactive posts and achieve your marketing goals.

FAQ about the carousel on Facebook

What is the recommended size for images or videos used in carousel posts?

The recommended size for images or videos used in carousel is 1080×1080 pixels. This size ensures the content is optimized for desktop and mobile devices, keeping the aspect ratio consistent across slides. Keeping the file size under 30MB per post is also recommended.

Can I use different types of content in a single carousel post?

Yes, you can use different types of content in a single carousel. A carousel post allows you to share multiple pieces of content in a single post, including single-image videos and GIFs. It’s a great way to showcase products or services, provide a step-by-step guide, or share a collection of images that tell a story in each carousel card. Just make sure each piece of content adds value to the overall post.

Can I use carousel posts in Facebook Ads?

Yes, carousel posts can be used in Facebook Ads. This feature allows advertisers to showcase multiple images or videos in a single ad, adding depth and improving engagement rates. Carousel also allows faster and easier browsing of a product catalog or service offerings.

How often should I post carousel posts on Facebook?

There is no definitive answer to how often you should post carousel posts on Facebook, as it depends on your specific marketing goals, target audience, and the type of content you share. Some brands post daily carousel posts, while others share one or two weekly. It’s best to experiment and monitor your engagement rate to determine the optimal frequency for your business.

As a head of digital marketing and an experienced Facebook media buyer for e-commerce businesses, I know that a successful ad campaign on Facebook requires understanding the Facebook learning phase essential for optimizing your campaigns. This crucial process helps Facebook determine the most effective way to deliver your ads to your target audience, ensuring the best results possible.

This article contains everything you need to know to understand the learning phase. I’ll delve into the inner workings of the learning phase, its duration, and its impact on your ad campaign performance.

I’ll also provide helpful tips on how to get the most out of this optimization process.

What is Facebook learning phase?

The Learning Phase is a period in which Facebook gathers data about your new ad or new ad set to understand your audience better. Facebook uses this data to optimize the delivery of your ads for better performance. Facebook requires at least 50 events before it can exit the learning phase and deliver your ads to the right audience.

During the learning phase, making significant edits to your ad campaign can disrupt the learning process and lead to poor performance. Any changes to your ad can reset the learning phase. But there are different “levels” of change. Some can restart the learning phase, but others extend Facebook’s learning phase.

Not all adjustments to your ad set or its ads will go back into the learning phase. Minor changes like tweaking your budget or setting a bid cap won’t affect the learning phase. However, significant edits, like changes to targeting, ad creative, optimization event, or pausing your ad set for over a week, will likely restart the process.

When does Facebook AD exit the learning phase?

When you create an ad set with a specific objective, Facebook strives to optimize your campaign by showing your ads to the users most likely to take your desired action. To achieve this, Facebook collects all data on the AD Set level.

When the AD Set isn’t getting enough data, you will get a “learning limited” notification.

Typically, the learning phase concludes once you’ve accumulated 50 optimization events, which depend on your chosen objective. For instance, 50 optimization events for a lead ad campaign would equate to 50 leads, while a conversions campaign would require 50 conversions.

If you don’t understand how to choose a campaign objective, check my article: Test Results: Add To Cart vs Initiate Checkout vs Purchase Facebook Events.

If you’re optimizing for conversions, these events must occur within your conversion window. You should aim for at least 50 conversions per week to optimize effectively.

It’s essential to note that Facebook continues to gather data and optimize your ad sets even after the learning phase has ended. The longer your ad sets are active, the more optimization events you generate, and the more efficiently Facebook can optimize your campaigns, reducing costs and creating more stable results.

The learning phase has three stages – the initial learning phase, the optimization phase, and the stabilization phase.

The Initial Learning Phase. During the initial learning phase, Facebook shows the ad to a small portion of the audience to gather data about the ad’s performance. The data collected during this phase helps Facebook to understand the ad’s potential and decide how to optimize the ad delivery.

The Optimization Phase. In the optimization phase, Facebook uses the data collected during the initial learning phase to optimize the ad delivery. During this phase, Facebook may increase or decrease the ad delivery based on the ad’s performance.

The Stabilization Phase. The stabilization phase is the final phase of the learning phase. During this phase, Facebook delivers the ad to the target audience, and the ad’s performance becomes more stable.

Common Mistakes to learning limited

Facebook recently introduced the “learning limited” warning, which may appear if your ad set isn’t generating enough leads to exit the learning phase. This issue typically arises when your ad set is limited by audience size, cost control, budget, or other settings.

If you’re achieving great results despite the warning, feel free to ignore it. Otherwise, consider making adjustments to your campaign to improve performance and potentially remove the learning limited warning.

While it may take time, Facebook’s optimization process can significantly impact your cost per optimization event. Avoid making major adjustments to your ad sets during the learning phase, as doing so could reset the process before generating meaningful data.

Here are some common mistakes that advertisers make:

Pausing or Deleting Ads too early. Pausing or deleting ads in AD Manager too early during the learning phase can disrupt the learning process and lead to poor optimization. It is essential to give Facebook enough time to gather data and optimize the ad delivery.

Changing too many variables at once. Changing too many variables at once can make it challenging for Facebook to understand the ad’s performance and optimize the ad delivery. It is recommended to make changes gradually and monitor the ad’s performance closely.

Set up a too-low campaign budget. If you add too many ads, it can get stuck in the learning limited phase because you don’t have enough budget to test all ad performance.

Making significant budget changes too quickly. Making significant budget changes too quickly can disrupt the learning process and lead to poor optimization. It is recommended to increase the budget gradually and monitor the ad’s performance closely.

How to monitor my ad performance during the learning phase on Facebook?

To monitor ad performance during the learning phase on Facebook, regularly check the main metrics in your dashboard, such as reach, impressions, frequency, click-through rate, or cost per result. Be sure to also monitor engagement metrics such as likes, comments, and shares.

Adjust targeting and creative elements as needed to optimize performance. It’s important to be patient during the learning phase and avoid making drastic changes too quickly.

Facebook Learning Phase Best Practices Tips & Tricks

You must understand that exiting the learning phase does not mean good results for your advertising campaigns. You can achieve great results even in a limited learning phase. But of course, if your ad set reaches 50 events, it will help to exit the phase faster.

Here are some best practices to get out of the learning phase faster

Try to launch an ad set with less than six ads, and it helps you exit the phase faster. Do not make significant changes or decisions before reaching at least 8000 impressions.

Also, use an appropriate budget. Using a suitable budget that allows Facebook to deliver your ad to a large enough audience to gather data and optimize the ad delivery is recommended.

TL;DR: Facebook ads learning phase

The Facebook learning phase involves Facebook gathering data on your new ad or ad set to optimize ad delivery for better performance. It requires at least 50 events to exit the learning phase, and significant edits to your ad campaign during this time can disrupt the process and lead to poor performance.

The “learning limited” warning may appear if your ad set isn’t generating enough leads to exit the learning phase. If you’re achieving excellent results despite the warning, you can ignore it; otherwise, consider adjusting your campaign.

Remember, exiting the learning phase does not guarantee good results, and achieving great results is possible even in a limited learning phase.

FAQ

Is a Facebook business page free?

Yes, it is absolutely free. The only thing you can pay for is Facebook and Instagram Ads, which could help you make your customers’ audience larger.

Does a Facebook Business Page have to be linked to a personal account?

Yes, your business page should be linked to your personal account because Facebook doesn’t allow creating a business page without it being connected to a personal profile. If you want you can create a new Facebook personal account and make it private so no one can find you.

What is the difference between a Facebook Business account and a Facebook page?

The key difference between a Facebook Business account and a Facebook page is that a Business account is used to manage and advertise on multiple pages and ad accounts, while a page is a public-facing presence representing your business on Facebook.

A Facebook Business account is a separate account that you can use to manage your different business pages and ad accounts on Facebook. It allows you to manage multiple assets easily, grant access to other team members, and access features such as analytics and campaign management.

A Facebook page is a public presence that businesses, brands, and organizations can create on Facebook. It allows you to share information about your business, products, or services and connect with customers and followers. People can like and follow your page to stay updated on your latest news and offers.

Wrap Up

Creating a Facebook Business Page is just the first step. To truly get the most out of your page, you’ll need to manage and update it with relevant and engaging content actively. You should also aim to regularly interact with your audience by responding to comments and messages, and asking for feedback and ideas.

Additionally, it’s important to remember that, unless you advertise your Facebook Business Page, it may be difficult for people to discover it organically. Using Facebook Ads or other marketing strategies, you can reach a wider audience and increase your visibility on the platform. So I recommend also reading my article: Test Results: Add To Cart vs Initiate Checkout vs Purchase Facebook Events

Overall, a Facebook Business Page can be a valuable asset for your business, but it takes time and effort to manage and promote it effectively.

By regularly updating and engaging with your page, and using advertising and marketing techniques, you can effectively reach and connect with your target audience on Facebook.

Good luck!

Are you concerned about an impending global recession? Growing a business during an economic downturn can cause major anxiety – unless you prepare!

I’ve been a Digital Marketing professional for almost a decade, and I can tell you – there’s no ONE magic way towards success. But you can take plenty of practical steps to safeguard yourself from a recession. Today, I share my top 5 digital marketing strategies to grow your business during a recession!

One thing all business owners need to know is that recessions happen. They are standard parts of the economic cycle, and though they can be challenging, they are not a death sentence to all companies.

The difference nowadays is that we are a global market, and what happens in one part of the world can have significant impacts elsewhere. That said, recessions are not depressions, and if you have a service or product people want, there will always be ways to make money!

So, take a deep breath and don’t panic.

The organizations that thrive during these times are either well prepared or flexible enough to pivot their intentions and resources to protect their bottom lines or both!

Now, let’s get into my top 5 proven ways to grow your business during a recession.

Focus on the customer experience

The customer shopping experience is a lesson in psychology, especially during tough economic times. Emotions are contagious, and if they feel out of control or anxious in their everyday lives, they become more hesitant and nervous about purchasing. Understanding your customer’s wants and needs is crucial. And when every transaction counts, you’ve got to listen to their feedback and watch their behavior.

Here are a few questions to consider:

Are they just scrolling through your website or store? If so, it may be how you display your information.

Are they stopping and lingering on specific products or packages? Lingering suggests intent, but something is holding them back. Is it pricing, reviews, or quality?

Do you offer a money-back guarantee? This helps establish confidence and control for the buyer.

Could you offer a rewards program or discounts to boost sales and build brand loyalty? Loyal customers typically stick to their brands even during difficult economic conditions.

Are they using your search bar for specific options? What do you need to stock up on or look into adding to your inventory or service list?

If you don’t have software that shares customer behavior, you may want to invest in some or find a digital marketing professional to help analyze and review your current processes to maximize your customer’s experience. It’s an investment worth paying for.

People don’t often branch out to new brands during difficult times unless they find savings or better quality products that have longevity.

Automation

Building a business takes a lot of work, especially if you are doing it all alone or with limited employees! All that time, from inventory checks to logistics, sales, and customer service, adds up. And since time equals money, innovative entrepreneurs are investing in new automation technology designed to save you time.

From initial and follow-up email campaigns to customer service chatbots and workflows, automation keeps the structure of your business flowing with almost no effort on your end. For example, a customer connects with a chatbot to ask a question about a product on your website. They then purchase the product, and an email confirmation is automatically sent.

Another email pushes out once the product is set for delivery. Then another follow-up thank you, feedback, or survey email goes out a few days after the customer receives their product. This automation saves you time to send those out individually or hire a person to handle all those tasks.

Once a customer is in your system, automation can nurture those relationships with promotional emails, birthday notifications, or quarterly reminders, building positive connections and brand loyalty along the way.

Influencer Marketing Collaboration

Influencers positively impact any business, but certainly an eCommerce store that doesn’t have a big, fat marketing budget at its disposal! Choosing the right influencers to help build your brand is essential. Consider your product line or service; who is your target audience?

An influencer needs to feel authentic to the items they are promoting. You wouldn’t necessarily choose a health and wellness influencer to promote your automotive parts store or a toy reviewer to discuss your latest anti-aging supplement! Leveraging an influencer’s network can be a lifeline during tough economic times because they are a direct link between you and the consumer.

They only get paid if you do, so the kickback you give them comes from an actual sale. When you team up with an influencer, there is no “ad-spend,” and saving that money from running ads can help pad your bottom line. Especially if other aspects of your business, like logistics, cost more.

Affiliate Referral Marketing

Instead of hiring a sales team to get out there and promote your products, affiliate marketers are independent contractors. They get out there and sell for you for a cut of the profits.

This is a great way to save money as you look to scale up your business.

Why?

Well, because they absorb the costs of the ad spend, create the curiosity, the content, and build up the brand for you. During an economic downturn, these individuals may even offer a reduction in their cut to help generate more business their way. This option is much more affordable to attract more customers and clients.

Remarketing/Retargeting Campaigns

Instead of casting a wide net to every Facebook or Instagram user in a specific location or age range, you may want to consider a remarketing campaign, also known as retargeting.

This strategy focuses on reintroducing yourself to users who have already connected with you in one way or another. When you track the activity on your site, you collect data on email addresses and user profiles. You know that these people have viewed your products and services and have shown interest.

You now have a second chance to reignite their curiosity and clinch a sale. You can target them on Facebook, Instagram, or even through Google Ads. Retargeting uses cookie data while remarketing typically uses email.

For example, if a customer looks at a specific beauty product for a long time but never purchases it. You can use that data to remarket them via Google Ads to remind them of that cream or face wash they never bought.

Or you could send out a reminder email to that user, offering a slight discount to encourage a sale. Chances are, this happens to you personally all the time.

Why shouldn’t you use the same methods?

Regardless of your chosen methods, remember that businesses need resiliency to thrive in a recession. It’s not impossible; it just takes planning, patience, and the ability to pivot quickly when an approach isn’t successful.

I hope all this information helps you feel better prepared because a recession will come – someday! Thanks for tuning in! Be sure to like this video and subscribe to the channel so you can take advantage of all my professional experience!

Before you commence the job of managing a client’s Facebook ads, you have to make sure that you’ve been added to his/her Business Manager and Ad Manager accounts. Facebook created the Business Manager account with the sole aim of keeping work and life matters separate. Here the owner or admin of a business can add employees and guests and control their access based on their roles in the company.

A Facebook Ads account, on the other hand, is a sub-tool under the Business Manager account where employees or guests run and manage Facebook ads. If your client already has a Business Manager account, then you can proceed to the next key point in this article. However, if they don’t have a Business Manager account go ahead and ask them to create one or you can help them with the task.

Below are the steps to follow to create a Facebook Business Manager account.

How to create a Facebook Business Manager Account

Navigate to https://business.facebook.com/overview and select “Create Business”

Enter your business name and email

Verify if you want Facebook to notify you of every action taken in your Business Manager account via email.

Congratulations, the account has been created. Next, you have to create an Ad account and ask your client to grant you the necessary access that you need to manage his/her ads.

To create an Ad account

Navigate “add accounts” in the already created Business Manager account and select “Add”.

Select “Create a new Ad account”

Add necessary details like time zone, currency, payment method, etc.

Add guests and users to the Ad account and set their access. Only 3 permissions are available: Admin, Advertiser, and Analyst. Don’t forget that it is better to assign the Advertiser’s access to Ad managers

Sounds too complicated? No need to worry, there are free tutorials on how to create this accounts and effectively use them.

2. Ask your client to set up and use Meta Pixel:

Facebook or Meta pixel is a piece of code that when generated and placed in a website, collects data to track Facebook ad conversions. Meta pixel helps to optimize ads, build target audiences and remarket to a custom audience. Not only this, Meta Pixels gives a clear measurement of how your Facebook ads work. This may include data that show the web actions that people take through your ad, specific target audience demographic, and automatic tools to increase sales.

Meta pixels track different customer actions and group them as events. Some of these events include the lead event, purchase event, add to cart event, add to wishlist event, search event, contact event, donate event, start trial event, subscribe event, etc.

Note:

As part of our pro tip on how to manage Facebook ads for clients, we advise that you keep your Pixel codes safe. We know that Pixel codes are not in high “robbery” demands as the credit card pins, but they can be compromised too. If a person with ill intention gets hold of your Pixel Code, he might add it to his/her website. This will in turn keep track of unrelated data which might confuse you and ruin your marketing efforts.

3. Ask for ad creatives:

Ad creatives are simply the visual form that your client’s Facebook ads will appear to your target audience. This could be as images, videos, slideshows, carousels, collections, and so on. Ad creatives, followed closely by ad copy, are the two most important ingredients of a successful ad campaign. Ad creatives take preeminence because the human mind is programmed to assimilate and remember up to 90% of visual information.

Because of this, examining the ad creatives that your clients provide is an important way to manage Facebook ads for clients. Note that some clients provide ad creatives with emotional attachments, and would resist your suggestion to use a better one.

Here’s what you should do.

Point out the consequences of using a low-quality ad creative, some of which include high cost, low ranking ad distribution. If your client still insists on using the low-quality creative, remind him that if the results don’t meet the marketing goal it will be his/her (the client’s) fault.

4. How much your client should spend on Facebook ads in the first month:

Sometimes, a client might have an idea of how much he/she should spend on Facebook advertising. Sometimes, they would be clueless.

But to successfully manage Facebook ads for your clients, you have to follow the marketing rule of thumb that states that you should only invest 2-5% of your sales revenue into marketing and campaign.

This, however, depends on the stage of your client’s business. If his/her business is at the infancy or youth stage with little to no revenue and/or customers, then you should follow the “start small” ad budget policy.

Simply put, the “start small” ad budget policy recommends that ad managers only run $10 – $30 ads per day or $300 to $500 ads per month. This policy helps to cut down risks of over-budgeting that may occur while running test ad campaigns (more on this later).

5. Launch test campaigns and choose the right optimization.

The thoughts of the kind of money one WOULD make IF an ad campaign is successful usually releases a high amount of dopamine and excitement. Now, these yet-to-be achieved victories could make your client pressure you into immediately creating high-budget Facebook ad campaigns. After all, more ads equals more sales, right?

Wrong.

As part of our tips on how to manage Facebook ads for your clients, we advise that you don’t be deceived by agencies or copywriters that claim to have the best formula for creating high converting ads. Truth is, they probably carried out some behind-the-scene A/B testing before coming up with that perfect ad formula that you now admire. What you should rather admire (seek to learn) is how they carried out that preceding A/B testing.

Simply put, A/B testing or split testing involves running a series of ads to determine what works best. To determine if a test campaign is good or not, you should check its Click-Through Rate, Quality score, Conversion rate, and Bounce rate. It’s advised to run 3-4 test ads and choose which returns positive results on the above factors.

Note that sometimes, no single test ad campaign will return an all-around positive score. When this occurs, you need to discover the source of the problem and tweak it to get the result that you desire. For instance, if a test ad returns a low Quality Score and average CTR, and a short bounce time, this means that you’re targeting the wrong audience demographic and you should make the necessary changes.

6. Facebook ad reports for clients

Facebook gives a standard client reporting interface for people that use the Ads Manager. This report section shows a 17 column report that contains generic data that are sometimes unnecessary. Exposing novice clients to this form of report isn’t an effective way to manage Facebook ads for clients as it might confuse them or make them concentrate on irrelevant data.

So, unless your client asks for that generic report or specifies the data he wants to be monitoring, we advise that you customize the reports you send to your clients. You can do this by navigating to the “Edit Columns” in the Ads Manager and adding or removing important columns.

In addition to this, the frequency of your reporting could make or mar your collaboration with that client. It’s a given that some clients might prefer if you report back to them within hours or days. But this short-paced report could ruin that collaboration because you might not be able to produce sufficient data to show if your ads are doing great or not. To prevent this, always report the progress of your ads after every 14 days or at the beginning or end of the month. That way, you’ll have enough data to measure your progress.

How to manage Facebook ads for clients – steps involved in setting up and adding Meta Pixel to your client’s website

Below are the steps to set up and add a Meta pixel to your client’s website. Remember, you can ask your client to do this, or offer to do it yourself (as a bonus package or for a fee).

How to set up Meta Pixel

Navigate to the Facebook events manager

At the left menu, click “Connect to data source”

Click “Get started”.

Select “Facebook Pixel”

Click “Connect”

Name your Pixel and enter the website URL

Click “Continue”

You will be presented with 2 options on how to add the Pixel source code to your website. The first is adding Meta Pixel Manually, while the second is by using Partner Integration.

How to add Meta Pixel Manually

Copy the Pixel code

Locate your website’s header/header template

Paste the Pixel Code at the bottom of the header

Click “Continue”

Tune on “Automatic Advanced Matching” to verify the information you put

Click “Continue”

You can proceed to add Pixel Events using the “Event setup tool”

When you’re done, click “Done”

How to add Meta Pixel using Partner Integration.

Partner integration is a partnership where a company offer’s another company’s product or service that complements theirs. Therefore Facebook Partner Integration involves connecting other applications to Facebook to improve the effectiveness of campaigns and workflow for other businesses. Some of facebook’s integration partners include Amazon, Yahoo, Apple, Microsoft, WordPress, etc

Click “Use partner”

Select the relevant partner.

I decided to launch the Facebook test – a Purchase Vs AddToCart optimized ad set, with a daily budget of 500 Eur for an eCommerce store. We targeted the same audience, with the same creatives. This is TOFU campaign setup with the main goal to attract more new audiences for the brand.

Before we will check the results of this A/B test, let’s try to understand which objection we can use if we run an e-commerce store.

Facebook breaks objectives up into three categories, with various options under each:

One of the biggest mistakes you can make with Facebook ads is choosing a campaign objective that doesn’t align with the results you want to achieve. This puts your campaign at a disadvantage right from the start.

The objective you select conveys information to Facebook about your campaign goals and what action you want people to take after they’ve seen your ad. Based on this information, the algorithm will show your ads to the people in your target audience who are most likely to take that action. If you choose the Traffic objective, for example, Facebook will prioritize showing your ads to the people in your target audience who tend to click links.

So this is why, if you are running an ads campaign for an e-commerce store you need to choose conversion-based campaigns.

So why not just set everything to Purchase, because that’s ultimately what you want out of this, right?

The answer, according to Facebook, is that it requires a minimum amount of 50 conversion events every week in order for ads to be effective.

Now give me an answer – can your business generate 50 Purchases every week from a Facebook campaign? If you are watching this video – probably not.

But can your business generate 50 Add To Carts weekly?

Easy!

Maybe it’s better to use add to cart conversion event for your campaigns? So that’s going to get out of the learning phase faster, and that’s going to help Facebook optimize your campaigns better?

This makes sense in theory, but in practice, very rarely when AddToCart outperforms Purchase. Except you are not selling high ticket products and I will tell you about it later.

So when you’re running conversion campaigns with the purchase event, you may well see a “learning limited” warning. Don’t let that discourage you from going with that setup.

Ok, Let’s look at the test results. We spent a little more than 6k euros on this test and believe the results are impressive.

So, as you can see we spent almost the same budget.

One important piece of info – This is a Top Of The Funnel campaign and this isn’t a cheap product. This is a high-ticket product that cost between 200 and 400 euros.

We reached the same number of people.

And we showed them almost the same number of times.

So the CPM of these campaigns is the same.

CPC: 2,53 Eur

CPC: 2,96 Eur

But, here’s where it gets interesting.

Price per click and number of clicks as you can see is different

The number of content views is also different and so, is the cost.

And as we can see, our first campaign with add-to-cart optimization brings more results in this step.

And… In the next step checkout initiation.

But look at this:

The second campaign with the purchase optimization – brings more sales. And better ROAS.

Add To Cart Optimized Campaign: 19

Purchase Optimized Campaign: 32

That is.

If I was selling a cheap product, at this stage I will definitely switch off a campaign with AddToCart optimization and run only a purchase campaign.

For example, in this split test campaign, I can see positive triggers that help me make a decision to keep going with this campaign because at the BOFU this campaign brings me a cheaper purchase.
